Iowa’s Six-Week Abortion Ban Led to Nearly 40% Drop in Clinician-Provided Abortions

Data from the Monthly Abortion Provision Study show that after Iowa’s six-week abortion went into effect on July 29, clinician-provided abortions declined by 38% in August from the monthly average over the first six months of 2024.  

In addition to the impact in Iowa, our interactive dashboard has been updated with the latest data nationally and for each state without a total ban.
